A proper cut and polish removes swirls, scratches and contamination, and gives film or coating a flawless surface to bond to. It is the step that makes everything else worth paying for.

Why correction is not optional

Whatever goes on next — film or coating — is only as good as the paint underneath it.

Film and coating lock in the surface they go on. Swirls, fine scratches and bonded contamination do not disappear under film — they stay there, sometimes more visible than before because the film adds depth. Under ceramic coating, you are sealing those marks in and making them last longer. There is no fixing it afterwards without starting again.

We will not put film or coating on uncorrected paint, and we will always tell you honestly how much correction your car needs before we start — no more and no less.

What paint correction involves

The process starts before the polish comes out.

Hand wash

Lift surface dirt and grime without marring the paint before any further work.

Clay treatment

Pull out bonded contaminants — industrial fallout, tar, brake dust — that washing alone cannot shift.

Cut & polish

Remove swirls and fine scratches from the clear coat, stage by stage, until the paint is clear and ready to protect.

The number of polishing stages depends on the paint condition. Light swirls need a single stage. Heavy swirling or oxidation needs two or three. We assess the paint and tell you what is required.

The film has a warranty. The install has no expiry.

Correction done properly means the finish you are protecting is one worth protecting. That is the part of the job that outlasts the warranty on the film.

Why does paint need to be corrected before PPF or ceramic coating?
Film and coating lock in whatever is on the paint when they go on. Skip correction and you are sealing in swirls, fine scratches and contamination permanently. Under PPF they are still visible — sometimes more so because the film adds depth and magnifies what is underneath. Under ceramic coating, you are preserving the swirls and making them last longer. Correction removes those marks first, so the finish you protect is a clean one.
Can paint correction remove deep scratches?
It depends on how deep they go. Light swirls, fine scratches, water spots and oxidation respond well to a proper cut and polish. Scratches that have broken through the clear coat into the colour coat cannot be corrected with polishing — those need a respray. We will tell you honestly which category your paint falls into before any work starts.
How long does paint correction take?
A single-stage correction on a standard car typically takes half a day to a full day. More intensive two or three-stage work on heavily swirled or oxidised paint can take two days. We give you an honest estimate at consultation once we see the condition of the paint.
Can I book paint correction without getting PPF or ceramic?
Absolutely. Paint correction as a standalone service is a legitimate choice — before a sale, an event, or when the paint has built up swirls that washing cannot fix. There is no pressure to add anything else. We give you an honest read on what the paint needs and the result you can expect.
